Hello NY!! NY Fashion Week - RODARTE does Van Gogh

I promised street style photos from my trip to New York, but first I post the latest runway proposals for next Spring 2012.

I start with Rodarte. The work of these girls -sisters, in fact- is a-ma-zing. If you love art, the craft of fashion, appreciate Van Gogh and post-impressionists - or all of the above - you will enjoy watching this: http://www.style.com/fashionshows/video/S2012RTW-RODARTE

Rodarte: simply beautiful!!!

This collection is...... GENIUS!!!
Acqualinesblues and ochres taken from Van Gogh's paintings. Color combinations, materials - sheer gauze, thick brocades, leather, wool - texturesembroidery, the work is superb. There are elements of Haute Couture in the dresses, also of the home-made in sweaters and belts. Dreamy, flowy, romantic designs and sharp tailoring.
No more words... enjoy!!

I want this sunflower dress!!!
Notice the couture details that are almost imperceptible: the pleats. ruffles, the richness of the embroidery... ahhhh sooo nice!

Gorgeous color and drapery
Looove this!! The sleeves and neckline of the top, the green + lilac, the draping and direction, the stripes, the fluidness....

Purple smocked leather + belt, green gauze skirt in layers that resemble rose petals....
Starry, starry night....
Shoes!!
Couture!!!
The color palet of an artist, the craftmanship of French couture....
Shoes!!

Van Gogh is in this dress: Sunflowers, clouds, starry nights, ochres, blues

Ode to the work of the great Van Gogh

Van Gogh... thank you for what you have given us:

What did you think of the Rodarte collection?
Do you like it as much as I do?

Love,
sd

PS, I dedicate this post to Dolores Gimenez Zapiola, my blog follower and fashion-forward friend who owns a 'Rodarte' dress. And to my brother Paul Dibar, the equivalent of Vincent's brother Theo, who likes Van Gogh as much as me.
