South Beach Night Guide

Club hopping and decor spotting in South Beach with my sister Lucila, who visited us from abroad. This was our itinerary:

We had dinner at Casa Tua, simply the most beautiful spot in Miami. Headed to Collins Avenue, to the Delano hotel first, famously decorated by Philippe Stark - where I once briefly met Cuban-American New York designer Narciso Rodriguez - and walked straight down to the Florida Room, decorated by Lenny Kravitz - yes, the musician. Then to the Sagamore, to take a look at its sleek white lobby and interesting art lounge. Next, the Shore Club, where we appreciated its spare white decor and the divinely illuminated gardens, created by Vogue It girl and landscape designer Miranda Brooks. Stopped at The Raleigh to check out its famous swimming pool. Entered nightclub Rock Bar and left for our final destination, the W hotel. Spotted at the W's Living RoomJulio Iglesias, Jr. in skinny jeans, sneakers, v-neck t-shirt, pony tail, gorgeous smile, and in the company of two girls. We stayed at Wall, where there is always great music, and danced the night away!!  -SD

Around town with my sister... First, dinner at Casa Tua, the restaurant of perfect beach style decor. Members enjoy music and drinks at their exclusive club upstairs.

The kitchen table adorned with orchids and tea lights

Always great music at nightclub Wall, at the W hotel

I am mad about this table in the W lobby !! Love the zig zag shape, the texture, the silver color, the different seating arrangements...

What to wear in Miami this Spring

Life in Miami means facing up to unique fashion realities: getting dressed in this town is different from everywhere else. Miami is a cosmopolitan yet laid back city, fashion-forward but beach-minded, and we mainly dress for hot, hot weather year-round. We must figure out how to look chic and keep cool, put together but not too done up... it takes a lot of thinking and editing.

Marc Jacobs
Said to be inspired by Cannes, almost every miamian reality is included in this super chic collection: bright colors, exotic flowers, straw hats, sandals, platforms, frizzy hair! a sequined palm tree! (not included: tanned skin and silicones).
Make these looks work by playing them down, shortening the lengths of the skirts... pick and choose ideas, be inspired!

Here's to Miami fashionistas!

It Shoes for Spring 2011

Continuing with our closet update mission, we take a look at shoes. Every girl's closet should have 1. the basics that go with everything - of which we will talk about in the near future - and 2. The Wow Shoes, the ones you fall in love with each season and desperately must have.
Depending on your style, you can wear these 'safely' with basics such as a white button down shirt and skinny or boyfriend jeans, also with a khaki mini shirtdress; or you can scream out 'fashionista' by pairing them with wider trousers and a neon leopard chiffon blouse, or by going all out with over-the-knee sheer socks and satin shorts.

These are some of the It shoes of the season and some ideas as to who would wear them, when and with what?

Looks to Love: Le Pants

There are two things your style confidante recommends updating twice a year: 1. shoes and 2. pants. Each season, shop for a current pair of jeans. Olivier Theyskens, former designer at Lanvin, (of dreamy, poetic dresses), has been recruited by Theory to design a collection. How incredibly cool are these pant looks?
Wish list: all of them!
Which is your favorite?

Happy pants-hunting... !
