Hi everyone.

Some months back my family and I made the decision to spend almost a year in Buenos Aires and in our estancia in Venado Tuerto, Santa Fé. It has been an incredible cultural experience. I am calling it my "creative sabbatical". I do miss writing in my blog and I miss sharing with you. I am waiting until I come back to Key Biscayne to get my blog up and running again. I have exciting writing plans for the near future, and I plan to reconnect with my artistic interests. In the meantime, here is a look at my present homes, all about which I will share when I arrive back in Miami at the beginning of August.

Hola a todos.

Hace unos meses, con mi familia decidimos pasar casi un año en Buenos Aires y en nuestro campo en Venado Tuerto, Santa Fé. Es mi "sabático creativo". Ha sido una experiencia cultural increible. Extraño escribir en mi blog y extraño compartir con ustedes. Estoy esperando a llegar a Key Biscayne para retomar el blog. Tengo proyectos de escribir y, más que nada, planeo reconectarme con mis intereses artísticos. Mientras tanto, les mando fotos de donde resido actualmente, lo que les voy a compartir cuando llegue a Miami al principios de Agosto.

Guide to a great wedding

EVERY ONCE IN a while we have the privilege of assisting an unforgettable event. This summer my sister and brother-in-law became husband and wife, and their wedding was pure love and happiness, abounding of nature and elegance. The wedding was celebrated with an altar in plein air at the groom's estate in Maschwitz, in the outskirts of Buenos Aires. With gorgeously designed gardens, it was decorated in beautiful simplicity - candles, flowers, an enormous white living-room area in the garden, a splendid white tent with wooden floors, a black and white checkered dance floor... The bride, groom and the guests looked graceful and natural to the max.

(DE VEZ EN cuando tenemos la suerte de asistir a un evento inolvidable. Este verano mi hermana y cunado se unieron en matrimonio, y el casamiento fue puro amor y alegría, pleno de naturaleza y sencilla elegancia. La boda fue realizada con un altar al aire libre en la quinta de la familia del novio, en las afueras de Buenos Aires. Con jardines espectacularmente disenados, fue decorada con distinción y simpleza - velas, elementos de iluminacion, flores, una zona de livings en el jardin con docenas de sillones blancos, una enorme carpa blanca con pisos de madera, pista de baile a cuadros.. Los novios como los invitados tambien lucieron de esta forma, elegantes al máximo, con maxima naturalidad.)

NYFW PART I

There is a lot of hype around Alexa Chung 's style. She does have a defined boy/girl style, I don't think it's so unique, but to her credit, she did an amazing design collaboration with fashion brand Madewell.

I do go crazy over Emmanuelle Alt ... a total pro!!! The director of French Vogue has got inimitable coolness. Simple, feminine, and relaxed. Always the perfect-cut it pants (she says she loves the ones at Topshop, though they look Balenciaga), the perfect au courant top, and killer shoes.

The Olsen twins have haute bohemian style. I just saw their fashion line, The Row, at Barney's NY.

NYFW PART II

One of my blog reader's favorite style icons is the impeccable Giovanna Battaglia. Love!!!!! She pulls off old-school elegance, and by taking risks, manages to keep her looks polished, fresh and young.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is so alluring! She wears a genuine smile with every outfit.

Caroline Sieber , a stylist, is one of the it girls of the moment. Apparently, despite her very young age, she only wears Haute Couture.

Meredith Melling Burke , of Vogue, keeps her outfits looking spontaneous. She sports the jean-on-jean look, complete with the of-the-moment high waisted pants.

Frente a esta imagen, recorde a Lupi, Guawi, Guadalupe, mis sobrinita, y a alguien que quiero mucho, que una vez le rezo en la Parroquia Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe de Buenos Aires. Fonda Nolita - Nolita

While we waited for our table at Cafe Habana, we walked around Nolita. This garage is a Mexican restaurant, Fonda Nolita, complete with a decorated Volkswagen car that sells famous Tacombi Mexican tacos. A very cute spot on Elizabeth Street!

The long wait for a table turned our breakfast into brunch. With George, we shared pancakes with blueberries and eggs benedict on bread. The milkshake lived up to its fame, it was chocolate for me!

Esperamos anios por una mesa en este muy concurrido lugar para desayunar. Asi que hicimos un brunch, con George compartimos una mega torre de panqueques y arandanos y unos egg benedict. Habia que probar el famosisimo milkshake - batido de helado, asi que.. uno de chocolate para mi!

Pastis - Meatpacking District

En este restaurant todos lucen muy bien vestidos. Me encanto en conjunto tutu y cashmere de esta chica, completo con la colita hacia el costado

We agreed that the food at Pastis was surprisingly terrible, as the cocktails. This couple probably thinks so too... sitting across from us, the man reminded me of a Transylvanian count, count Dracula, hair parted in the middle and gelled to the sides, stiff buttoned up shirt, expensive sweater, intriguing demeanor, impeccable manners. Anyways....

La comida en Pastis, un desastre! Los cocktails, muy malos tambien. Asi que hablemos de la gente, eso si valio la pena mirar. Este hombre de la mesa de al lado me intrigo. Parecia un conde, podria ser un conde Dracula moderno. El pelo peinado raya al medio, engominado, modales impecables, serio, con camisa almidonada y abotonada, sueter costosisimo... en fin

Mercer Kitchen - Soho

Mercer Kitchen is the best!!! It was hard to get a table without a reservation but worth the effort! I forgot to take my camera; everything looked amazing as always. We ordered pasta with a mushroom sauce and a pizza, and a mozzarella burrata to start. We had the best time. I love it here!!

Me encanta Mercer Kitchen! Nos costo conseguir mesa, para variar encaramos sin reserva, pero valio la pena el intento. Comimos barbaro, unas pastas, pizzas, y muzzarela burrata. Hay siempre buen ambiente, el lugar es divino, el servicio impecable. Un buen restaurant. Es lo mas!

Macao - Tribeca

This restaurant is also a very cool night club. Once Magda got us past the velvet rope, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who did her best to get us a table. We opted for the bar instead, went downstairs, checked out the decor - including an interesting corner with antique phallic objects and photos - and headed out to Mercer Kitchen.

Acqualines, blues and ochres taken from Van Gogh's paintings. Color combinations, materials - sheer gauze, thick brocades, leather, wool - textures, embroidery, the work is superb. There are elements of Haute Couture in the dresses, also of the home-made in sweaters and belts. Dreamy, flowy, romantic designs and sharp tailoring.

Beautiful british-born Clara Lago, owner of fashion brand Pitusa, sporting one of her one-of-a-kind "trackies", the coolest ones I've ever seen. How to look casual and feminine? By wearing them with pink suede ballet flats and matching rose in hair. Love!

My comfy, warm, sophisticated Pitusa shawl, with the cool neon "Peace" embroidery in arabic. The feel of the pure alpaca from Peru is superior to that of cashemere and pashmina.

Invited to a Panerai press event last Wednesday, I enjoyed the opportunity to look and try on a selection of the most distinguished, masculinely appealing models of watches in the world. The almost snobbish exclusivity Panerai ownership evokes, the vintage aesthetic of the watches, and the marine heritage of the brand, were up to par with the venue of choice: a charmingly gorgeous and woody conference room with turquoise sea views at the members-only Soho House Miami Beach.

I am wearing an Oscar de la Renta gold necklace, an Anthropologie eyelet blouse, a white pair of skinny jeans by my friend Mariana Macias, and Diane von Furstenberg gold platform sandals, a gift from someone I admire tons... will try to have a more descriptive picture next time!

This powerful yet spartan watch is worn by Gladiator's Russel Crowe, Victoria's Secret Heidi Klum, James Bond's Pierce Brosnam, Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Bill Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger...

I was happy to be invited to a test drive of the new Jaguar XJ. On the last Saturday of March, at eleven a.m., I arrive at ONE Bal Harbor Resort and Spa, to be struck by Jaguar's unmistakable elegance - a lineup of ten XJs, each in a different color and model. Once greeted by one of the organizors, I was introduced to the new, sleek, sexy and modern XJ Supersport. As soon as I climbed in, it was love at first sight... I was taken by its gorgeousness... the interior is breathtakingly beautiful, with perfect design and exquisite workmanship.

Breakfast was served on the beautiful sea terrace, where Harrison and Shriftman girls - all clad in Prada and Chloe, I enviously note - advised me on a pair of Ray Bans courtesy of The Optical Shop of Aspen. Provided with Flip video cameras, we got into our assigned cars and onto the road.

The ten Jaguar XJs journeyed in procession northbound on I-95. All power and striking design, it was a splendid sight to see. Julian was the handsome driver (a US national soccer team member until he was injured recently, he told us), and Doug, a professional race car driver, was our guide. He pointed out the features of the car via walkie talkie. Leisurely accommodated in the back seat, which is lovely and spacious, what did I like the most? The tortoiseshell tray, and the gorgeous dashboard, which is inspired by the traditional Italian Riva boats that I like, evident in the sleek lines and wood craftmanship.

The course led us to Boca Raton Resort and Club, where we had a seven course sushi lunch at Morimoto and desserts at Serendipity. The best was yet to come... to drive a gold Jaguar XJ back to Miami. What can I say of the drive? I felt elegant and regal, being carried by a motor so smooth and powerful. Loved it... too much!!

On our return, celebrity Gossip Girl actress Jessica Szohr was ready and waiting - it was her turn to have the privilege of test driving the new Jaguar XJ sedan.

Club hopping and decor spotting in South Beach with my sister Lucila, who visited us from abroad. This was our itinerary:

We had dinner at Casa Tua, simply the most beautiful spot in Miami. Headed to Collins Avenue, to the Delano hotel first, famously decorated by Philippe Stark - where I once briefly met Cuban-American New York designer Narciso Rodriguez - and walked straight down to the Florida Room, decorated by Lenny Kravitz - yes, the musician. Then to the Sagamore, to take a look at its sleek white lobby and interesting art lounge. Next, the Shore Club, where we appreciated its spare white decor and the divinely illuminated gardens, created by Vogue It girl and landscape designer Miranda Brooks. Stopped at The Raleigh to check out its famous swimming pool. Entered nightclub Rock Bar and left for our final destination, the W hotel. Spotted at the W's Living Room: Julio Iglesias, Jr. in skinny jeans, sneakers, v-neck t-shirt, pony tail, gorgeous smile, and in the company of two girls. We stayed at Wall, where there is always great music, and danced the night away!! -SD

Around town with my sister... First, dinner at Casa Tua, the restaurant of perfect beach style decor. Members enjoy music and drinks at their exclusive club upstairs.

Continuing with our closet update mission, we take a look at shoes. Every girl's closet should have 1. the basics that go with everything - of which we will talk about in the near future - and 2. The Wow Shoes, the ones you fall in love with each season and desperately must have.

In Paris last October, I was happily surprised to see Bambi inspired clothes at J C de Castelbajac (as I have mentioned in a previous post). I love Bambi, innocent, sweet, with equally adorable friends, appreciative of nature, the forest, the harmonious change of seasons. I was literally ecstatic this Christmas ski trip when two deer visited us at our house in the woods, at Beech Mountain.
