EVERY ONCE IN a while we have the privilege of assisting an unforgettable event. This summer my sister and brother-in-law became husband and wife, and their wedding was pure love and happiness, abounding of nature and elegance. The wedding was celebrated with an altar in plein air at the groom's estate in Maschwitz, in the outskirts of Buenos Aires. With gorgeously designed gardens, it was decorated in beautiful simplicity - candles, flowers, an enormous white living-room area in the garden, a splendid white tent with wooden floors, a black and white checkered dance floor... The bride, groom and the guests looked graceful and natural to the max.

(DE VEZ EN cuando tenemos la suerte de asistir a un evento inolvidable. Este verano mi hermana y cunado se unieron en matrimonio, y el casamiento fue puro amor y alegría, pleno de naturaleza y sencilla elegancia. La boda fue realizada con un altar al aire libre en la quinta de la familia del novio, en las afueras de Buenos Aires. Con jardines espectacularmente disenados, fue decorada con distinción y simpleza - velas, elementos de iluminacion, flores, una zona de livings en el jardin con docenas de sillones blancos, una enorme carpa blanca con pisos de madera, pista de baile a cuadros.. Los novios como los invitados tambien lucieron de esta forma, elegantes al máximo, con maxima naturalidad.)

There is a lot of hype around Alexa Chung 's style. She does have a defined boy/girl style, I don't think it's so unique, but to her credit, she did an amazing design collaboration with fashion brand Madewell.

I do go crazy over Emmanuelle Alt ... a total pro!!! The director of French Vogue has got inimitable coolness. Simple, feminine, and relaxed. Always the perfect-cut it pants (she says she loves the ones at Topshop, though they look Balenciaga), the perfect au courant top, and killer shoes.

The Olsen twins have haute bohemian style. I just saw their fashion line, The Row, at Barney's NY.

NYFW PART II

One of my blog reader's favorite style icons is the impeccable Giovanna Battaglia. Love!!!!! She pulls off old-school elegance, and by taking risks, manages to keep her looks polished, fresh and young.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is so alluring! She wears a genuine smile with every outfit.

Caroline Sieber , a stylist, is one of the it girls of the moment. Apparently, despite her very young age, she only wears Haute Couture.

Meredith Melling Burke , of Vogue, keeps her outfits looking spontaneous. She sports the jean-on-jean look, complete with the of-the-moment high waisted pants.

While we waited for our table at Cafe Habana, we walked around Nolita. This garage is a Mexican restaurant, Fonda Nolita, complete with a decorated Volkswagen car that sells famous Tacombi Mexican tacos. A very cute spot on Elizabeth Street!

The long wait for a table turned our breakfast into brunch. With George, we shared pancakes with blueberries and eggs benedict on bread. The milkshake lived up to its fame, it was chocolate for me!

Esperamos anios por una mesa en este muy concurrido lugar para desayunar. Asi que hicimos un brunch, con George compartimos una mega torre de panqueques y arandanos y unos egg benedict. Habia que probar el famosisimo milkshake - batido de helado, asi que.. uno de chocolate para mi!

Pastis - Meatpacking District

En este restaurant todos lucen muy bien vestidos. Me encanto en conjunto tutu y cashmere de esta chica, completo con la colita hacia el costado

We agreed that the food at Pastis was surprisingly terrible, as the cocktails. This couple probably thinks so too... sitting across from us, the man reminded me of a Transylvanian count, count Dracula, hair parted in the middle and gelled to the sides, stiff buttoned up shirt, expensive sweater, intriguing demeanor, impeccable manners. Anyways....

La comida en Pastis, un desastre! Los cocktails, muy malos tambien. Asi que hablemos de la gente, eso si valio la pena mirar. Este hombre de la mesa de al lado me intrigo. Parecia un conde, podria ser un conde Dracula moderno. El pelo peinado raya al medio, engominado, modales impecables, serio, con camisa almidonada y abotonada, sueter costosisimo... en fin

Mercer Kitchen - Soho

Mercer Kitchen is the best!!! It was hard to get a table without a reservation but worth the effort! I forgot to take my camera; everything looked amazing as always. We ordered pasta with a mushroom sauce and a pizza, and a mozzarella burrata to start. We had the best time. I love it here!!

Me encanta Mercer Kitchen! Nos costo conseguir mesa, para variar encaramos sin reserva, pero valio la pena el intento. Comimos barbaro, unas pastas, pizzas, y muzzarela burrata. Hay siempre buen ambiente, el lugar es divino, el servicio impecable. Un buen restaurant. Es lo mas!

Macao - Tribeca

This restaurant is also a very cool night club. Once Magda got us past the velvet rope, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who did her best to get us a table. We opted for the bar instead, went downstairs, checked out the decor - including an interesting corner with antique phallic objects and photos - and headed out to Mercer Kitchen.

Fashion's Night In

Three girls, one gorgeous boat house in Key Biscayne, and a lot of fashion talk. What could be more perfect? Caro Murciano told us all about her trendy and original Pajama pants line Lala, which look adorable on her, and Clara Lago updated us on her already internationally successful, up-and-coming brand, Pitusa, which I LOVE to wear.

Beautiful british-born Clara Lago, owner of fashion brand Pitusa, sporting one of her one-of-a-kind "trackies", the coolest ones I've ever seen. How to look casual and feminine? By wearing them with pink suede ballet flats and matching rose in hair. Love!

My comfy, warm, sophisticated Pitusa shawl, with the cool neon "Peace" embroidery in arabic. The feel of the pure alpaca from Peru is superior to that of cashemere and pashmina.

Too warm and humid to be actually wearing it! I pose and look at the exotic plant hangings on the tree, do you see?

"How cool is Caro's poncho?", says Clara. I think it's by Marni or Etro...

Invited to a Panerai press event last Wednesday, I enjoyed the opportunity to look and try on a selection of the most distinguished, masculinely appealing models of watches in the world. The almost snobbish exclusivity Panerai ownership evokes, the vintage aesthetic of the watches, and the marine heritage of the brand, were up to par with the venue of choice: a charmingly gorgeous and woody conference room with turquoise sea views at the members-only Soho House Miami Beach.

I am wearing an Oscar de la Renta gold necklace, an Anthropologie eyelet blouse, a white pair of skinny jeans by my friend Mariana Macias, and Diane von Furstenberg gold platform sandals, a gift from someone I admire tons... will try to have a more descriptive picture next time!

This powerful yet spartan watch is worn by Gladiator's Russel Crowe, Victoria's Secret Heidi Klum, James Bond's Pierce Brosnam, Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Bill Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger...

I was happy to be invited to a test drive of the new Jaguar XJ. On the last Saturday of March, at eleven a.m., I arrive at ONE Bal Harbor Resort and Spa, to be struck by Jaguar's unmistakable elegance - a lineup of ten XJs, each in a different color and model. Once greeted by one of the organizors, I was introduced to the new, sleek, sexy and modern XJ Supersport. As soon as I climbed in, it was love at first sight... I was taken by its gorgeousness... the interior is breathtakingly beautiful, with perfect design and exquisite workmanship.

Breakfast was served on the beautiful sea terrace, where Harrison and Shriftman girls - all clad in Prada and Chloe, I enviously note - advised me on a pair of Ray Bans courtesy of The Optical Shop of Aspen. Provided with Flip video cameras, we got into our assigned cars and onto the road.

The ten Jaguar XJs journeyed in procession northbound on I-95. All power and striking design, it was a splendid sight to see. Julian was the handsome driver (a US national soccer team member until he was injured recently, he told us), and Doug, a professional race car driver, was our guide. He pointed out the features of the car via walkie talkie. Leisurely accommodated in the back seat, which is lovely and spacious, what did I like the most? The tortoiseshell tray, and the gorgeous dashboard, which is inspired by the traditional Italian Riva boats that I like, evident in the sleek lines and wood craftmanship.

The course led us to Boca Raton Resort and Club, where we had a seven course sushi lunch at Morimoto and desserts at Serendipity. The best was yet to come... to drive a gold Jaguar XJ back to Miami. What can I say of the drive? I felt elegant and regal, being carried by a motor so smooth and powerful. Loved it... too much!!

On our return, celebrity Gossip Girl actress Jessica Szohr was ready and waiting - it was her turn to have the privilege of test driving the new Jaguar XJ sedan.

Club hopping and decor spotting in South Beach with my sister Lucila, who visited us from abroad. This was our itinerary:

We had dinner at Casa Tua, simply the most beautiful spot in Miami. Headed to Collins Avenue, to the Delano hotel first, famously decorated by Philippe Stark - where I once briefly met Cuban-American New York designer Narciso Rodriguez - and walked straight down to the Florida Room, decorated by Lenny Kravitz - yes, the musician. Then to the Sagamore, to take a look at its sleek white lobby and interesting art lounge. Next, the Shore Club, where we appreciated its spare white decor and the divinely illuminated gardens, created by Vogue It girl and landscape designer Miranda Brooks. Stopped at The Raleigh to check out its famous swimming pool. Entered nightclub Rock Bar and left for our final destination, the W hotel. Spotted at the W's Living Room: Julio Iglesias, Jr. in skinny jeans, sneakers, v-neck t-shirt, pony tail, gorgeous smile, and in the company of two girls. We stayed at Wall, where there is always great music, and danced the night away!! -SD

In Paris last October, I was happily surprised to see Bambi inspired clothes at J C de Castelbajac (as I have mentioned in a previous post). I love Bambi, innocent, sweet, with equally adorable friends, appreciative of nature, the forest, the harmonious change of seasons. I was literally ecstatic this Christmas ski trip when two deer visited us at our house in the woods, at Beech Mountain.

The most exciting restaurant in Miami

Miami had Art Basel Miami Beach, then Cesar Pelli's Performing arts building, now it has Soho Beach House. The private club opened a couple of weeks ago in Miami Beach and -thank God! - it is apparently not for the cheezy. Gorgeous decoration, super-stylish crowd and impeccable service (at the restaurant that is - don't expect good manners from the 'member's only' staff unless you are one). The vibe was exciting, people seemed ready to bring on the night after dinner. Spotted at Cecconi's restaurant, were the two most distinguished women in Miami: Ines Rivero, model, flocked by a group of young men who hung on her every word, and Silvia Tcherassi, fashion designer, who's eye was fixed for a moment by my blue-and-gold embroidered silk long sleeved dress, by Juicy Couture. A happy night.

Miami tiene un restaurant nuevo dentro de un club privado llamado Soho Beach House. La decoracion es espectacular, la gente super estilosa y el servicio es superior. La onda del lugar es bastante sofisticada, para variar, y lleno de energia. En el restaurant, Cecconi's, estaban las dos mujeres mas distinguidas de Miami, la modelo Ines Rivero, rodeada de hombres, y la disenadora de moda Silvia Tcherassi, quien parecio repararse en mi vestido de seda con bordados dorados y mangas largas. Yo, feliz.

We both started our fashion careers in Buenos Aires at the same time, in Para Ti magazine atEditorial Atlantida. Who would have thought that after all these years we would both be living in Miami.

Beautiful Birthdays

One of the loveliest birthdays was Julito Bosco's 3rd birthday party, held at the Village Green in Key Biscayne this past month. It was a beautifully simple fire engine-themed affair. There were tea sandwiches, goody bags and the cake, wonderfully arranged on a table. Hanging from the tree were balloons and a pinata. The mother, Gabriela Benaroum('Gabrielle' or 'Coco' as we ex-Vogue friends like to call her, because in case you haven't guessed yet she is the chicest girl - one day I'll tell you more about her) and her equally chic mom -the grandmother! did a great job: they set a standard for a low key, old-fashioned birthday party, held for close friends and her creme de la creme family.

Little Lucca, eldest son of Jessica de Linares, set an example for all of us for his birthday party. He asked his friends to donate money to the children of flood-stricken Pakistan instead of giving him presents. His brother had done the same for the children in Haiti, during the earthquake relief. There were games and activities galore in their picturesque garden, and a beading center for girls and boys. Surely, a birthday for everyone to remember for years to come.

Lucca, el hijo mayor de Jessica de Linares, dio a todos el ejemplo en su cumpleanos pidiendo que en vez de regalos, hagamos una donacion para los chicos de Pakistan. Su hermano habia hecho lo mismo en su cumple, el ayudo a los chicos de Haiti. Seguramente sera un festejo que muchos recordaran en el tiempo.

Que buen viaje vas a hacer! Para compras, sos tan viajada que conoceras mucho mas que yo. Te mando algunas direcciones que me parecieron interesantes.

En frente a la tienda Le Bon Marche, hay un mercadito para morirse, La Grande Epicerie de Paris, una tentacion! Compramos dulces riquisimos, unas pastas que parecen caramelos, macarons, eclairs, chocolates Faucher para regalar. En la misma cuadra de la capilla donde aparecio la Virgen de la Medalla Milagrosa. Ya debes haber estado, divina, brillante!!! Pense que iba a ser un mundo de gente pero al contrario. Traje medallas en tarjetitas para toda la flia. 140 Rue de Bac. A unos metros tambien esta la bomboneria Faucher, llevamos trufas y bouchee rochers.

Una zona nada turistica es el paquetisimo barrio en la 16eme, ahi visitamos las mas exquisitas patisseries: macarons, mazapanes, sandwich, etc. El centro de esta zona es un cafe tipico parisino, Le Franklin. Cafecito y no tourists, un placer. Arriba tienen un hotel, la vez pasada me quede ahi y volveria, lo acaban de renovar y quedo muy bueno. 1, rue Benjamin Franklin. Creo que vale la pena ir, es un tipico barrio tranquilo, me llamo la atencion la cantidad de casas de ropa usada con trajes y zapatos divinos especialmente de Chanel, una buena es Depto Vente. A la noche, comimos tipicos quesos, soup l'oignon au fromage y mejillones con papas fritas en Cafe de Trocadero, que queda cerca. Mesa afuera, con vista a la torre Eiffel iluminadisima. Infaltable, comprarme la ultima VOGUE Paris durante la semana de la moda y en el mes de la edicion aniversario: 90 anos!

Justo estaban en reunion con una familia, clientes venidos desde Ginebra, Suiza. Que distincion! Que fantasia hacerte la casa con el! Me tente con las velas con olor a distintas maderas; los libros ya los tenemos, son aluscinantes. Cerca del museo Rodin. 61 Rue de Varenne.

Los esplendidos muebles contemporaneos de Christian Liagre

Carteras divertidas inspiradas en Yves Saint Laurent y Sonia Rykiel, en R. B. boutique, 81, Rue de Saints Peres en la 6eme. por la zona de Blvd. Saint Germain. Vale la pena ver la vidriera de J.C. de Castlebajac (fijate si todavia esta la coleccion en brocado con dibujos de Bambi, divina!) y entrar en el Sandro, una cadena de ropa que me encanto, lo ultimo, re sofisticado y no tan masivo. Lo mejor? Las blusas de crepe y seda con manga inflada.

El negocio nuevo de Ralph Lauren es imperdible! Impresionantemente decorado. Su restaurant, Ralph's, es muuuy top, la gente, la deco, los mozos... demasiado bien vestidos y encantadores. El ultimo dia, de regalo de cumpleanos ligue un par de botas de Salamander, un negocio que descubri caminado por esa calle. Muy clasico, pero la calidad me parecio tipo Gucci. Pato me regalo unas negras de equitacion pero bien guantes y bien altas. Marca alemana, made in Italy, compradas en Francia. Los tres paises donde estuvimos. El broche de oro!

Todos mueren por H+M pero yo no mori. Uniqlo es mas interesante, por la famosa disenadora minimalista Jil Sander. Cerca de la Opera. Si te gustan las ballerinas, las que hace Repetto para mi son las mejores! Son las que usaba Brigitte Bardot; y hacen zapatillas de baile desde siempre.

Ballerinas Repetto, las de B.B. y las verdaderas bailarinas. Cual elegir?

La tienda Colette es increible!!! 213 rue Saint-Honore. Enfrente, se juntaba todo el fashion set despues de los desfiles, en el cafe La Coupe d'Or. Mortal la escena!! (mortal tambien el mozo malhumorado, jajaja). Por ahi habia una casa de alhajas usadas, las ganas de comprarme unos aros de Dior Joaillerie, los de flores esmaltadas de todos los colores que disena Victoire de Castellane!

Un negocio que parece que esta bueno es Merci, en Boulevard Beaumarchais. Para comer o tomar algo, esta el bar del Hotel Ritz en Place Vendome, y el Hotel Costes en Rue St. Honore, donde pasa musica el famoso DJ Stéphane Pompougnac, autor de los conocidos CDs. Escuchamos el ultimo que recien salia a la venta.

I am working on a post on Spring Fashion Week in New York (figuring out how to best present it to you...), and coming across pictures of Amanda Cutter Brooks, author and fashion consultant, one of my favorite women in fashion, as you may already know. Famous blogger Scott Schulman of The Sartorialist (also a book), hits the streets of Milan, Paris and New York on a mission: to photograph real fashion, worn by super cool people on the streets.
