Mc Queen is dead, long live Mc Queen!

Alexander Mc Queen, one of the greatest and most innovative designers of our time, has died today.
An expert in pattern making and cut, he learned to make properly made clothes as an apprentice on Savile Row in London - clients included the Prince of Wales. Style maverick Isabella Blow - also greatly missed - launched him into fame by buying his complete graduation collection at Central St Martins. He then became head designer at Givenchy, until he created his own eponymous brand. At Alexander Mc Queen, the avant garde and masterfully constructed clothes were shown as performance art, with the latest in music, light and image technology.

Mc Queen was irreverent, a rebel, extreme. An enfant terrible who showed us the future; his fantastic designs proved the almost limitless possibilities in design. He leaves a void, as such creativity and freedom lack in today's mass production world.

I like to think he is reunited with his muse Isabella, his dear mom....... and all of the CREATIVE FORCES that have graced us with their talent.

Thank you, Mc Queen, for what you have given us! We will miss you!
